The Winterberg School Trust strives for the sustainable growth of the Winterberg Community, through education and the creation of opportunities for social and economic upliftment.

The Winterberg School Trust is situated in the heart of the Winterberg, 25km south of Tarkastad in the Eastern Cape. The Trust is a non-profit, community based organization. Education is the core business of this successful organization, which continually strives to meet community needs in the following areas:

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Skills Development

Unemployed people – primarily women – have been provided with opportunities for personal development and financial gain. The development of Skills in Sewing, Fabric Painting and Pottery has been emphasized, but exposure to other Craft techniques and a component of Financial Management is also included in the Curriculum.

The recipients of this Project have together formed a production group called ‘Luncedo’. Luncedo has 10 members and is slowly developing into a sustainable business that produces quality clothing and items of home décor in original, ethnic designs. The creative products are popular with locals and tourists alike! Members of Luncedo are solely dependent on the business for a monthly income.
